Books in 2009

Posted in Books, Harry Potter, Stuff n Junk, Vampires at 11:11 PM by Amy~la

It’s almost 2010. So I will post the books I’ve read in 2009. The vampire books are in red, the books about magic are in blue, the books with magic and vampires are in purple, the books about fairies are in green, and the sci-fi books are in orange. And I have no idea what color to make Liar because it’s like sci-fi, but it’s not. And if I created a category for what Liar is about, I would totally give away the ending.

1. How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier
2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
3. Otherspace by David Stahler Jr.
4. Hunted by PC Cast and Kristin Cast
5. Animal Farm by George Orwell
6. Skinned by Robin Wasserman
7. Anthem by Ayn Rand
8. Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier
9. The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling
10. Cycler by Lauren McLaughlin
11. Magic Lessons by Justine Larbalestier
12. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
13. Magic’s Child by Justine Larbalestier
14. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
15. A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare
16. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling (reread)
17. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
18. City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
19. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
20. Blood Promise by Richelle Mead
21. Crashed by Robin Wasserman
22. Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
23. Liar by Justine Larbalestier

Today is Hermione Granger’s birthday. She was born September 19, 1979. That makes her 30 years old. Happy 30th birthday Hermione! (yes, I know I am obsessed with Harry Potter stuff. But hey, next week is Ton Felton’s [the guy who plays Draco Malfoy] birthday.)

Accio Dragon!

Posted in Harry Potter, Music, Stuff n Junk at 5:46 PM by Amy~la

Today I downloaded the soundtrack to A Very Potter Musical, that’s on YouTube. When I got to the song where Harry is singing to the dragon as a part of the House Cup Tournament, he says “Accio guitar”. It just really bugs me that he pronounces accio wrong. (He says the c’s as s’s when they should be pronounced as c’s. So it sounds like he says “Assio” but it is “Accio”.)

High School, or Hogwarts?

Posted in Harry Potter, School at 4:48 PM by Amy~la

There is a message in the girl’s bathroom in my school’s cafeteria. This message says “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir beware.” There was a conversation between Ron and Fred/George Weasley written on a desk. There was a message said “Join Dumbledore’s Army” written on another desk. There are signs all around school telling people to join Dumbledore’s Army, and that a sign up list is in the Science hallway. There actually is a sign-up list for Dumbledore’s Army in the Science hallway. I have a feeling that my high school is turning into Hogwarts.

Harry Potter Mania

Posted in Harry Potter at 6:44 PM by Amy~la

I’ve now seen Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince twice. I loved the part when Harry drank the luck potion. He was just so smug, arrogant, and unusually happy. When the dead bodies jumped out of the water, even though I knew they were coming, I jumped… both times. I can’t wait for this movie to come out on DVD so I can watch Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, and Half-Blood Prince, back to back. Then when Deathly Hallows part one comes out, I will be in heaven!

Lets Party

Yesterday I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price, but this post is not about that. Today I took some time off from playing Sims 3 to play some DDR. When I was tired I went online and I found out that one of my favorite TV shows is nominated for an Emmy. It is in the comedy category, and it is a cartoon. Here is a hint: giggity. Family Guy is nominated for a Emmy. It is the first cartoon in 48 years, since the Flintstones. So cheers to all the sexual innuendos, the gay jokes, the fart jokes, the evil baby, the talking dog, and the jokes that are probably going to land the writers in Hell for all the cracks at God. Congratulations Family Guy.

I like Harry Potter. I like musicals. But a Harry Potter musical? Yes, there is a Harry Potter musical on YouTube. It starts here and then click on the next video in the series to see the rest.

PoA (Prizoner of Azkaban)

Posted in Harry Potter, Stuff n Junk at 2:55 PM by Amy~la

Here’s an interesting fact about Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: in order to acquaint himself with his three lead actors, director Alfonso Cuarón had each of them write an essay about their characters, from a first-person point of view. Emma Watson, in true Hermione fashion, went a little overboard and wrote a 16-page essay. Daniel Radcliffe wrote a simple one-page summary, and Rupert Grint never even turned his in.

HP Plan

Posted in Harry Potter at 2:04 AM by Amy~la

I have a plan. I will reread a Harry Potter book and then I will watch the movie. Right now I am rereading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Then I will watch that movie and go onto Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I should finish movies 1-5 and books 1-6 by the time Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes out.

Superheroes are Everywhere

Posted in Harry Potter, Stuff n Junk, Superheroes at 12:00 AM by Amy~la

No matter what type of book I read, a superhero is almost always mentioned. I was reading a vampire book and the girl compared her boyfriend to Clark Kent. I was reading a magic book and there was another Superman reference. (That magic book also referenced Harry Potter by saying the girl’s mom didn’t let her read the Harry Potter books.) Right now I am reading a book that could actually happen. There are no vampires and no magic. There is only a car crash that changes the main character’s life. In this book, the boyfriend of the main character says, “Time to activate the Bat Signal.” That, of course, is a reference to Batman. Can’t I get through one book where they don’t mention a superhero? Dang it. I was going to pick up Twilight to get away from the superheroes, but then I remembered the whole “I’ve considered radio-active spiders and kryptonite.”

I was on MySpace when I saw a little ad next to all the important stuff. It was a large ad space with 4 little text ads. Well, these ads are normally realated to the page you are on, and since my MySpace has a lot of Harry Potter, Twilight and superheroes, those are the ads I see. Well, this was probably the worst Superhero ad for a non-superhero thing. Here is what it said:

Batman’s IQ=106.
Smarter than Batman? Take the Real IQ Test now!

There are a couple of flaws in that advertisement.
Flaw number one: Batman isn’t real
Flaw number two: How do you know the IQ of Batman?
Flaw number three: That quiz has nothing to do with Batman! If it was a Batman quiz I might take it. But it is just another dumb IQ quiz that is going to ask too many personal questions just so I can see how smart I am. I’m on to you Mr. Ad Maker.

So, I’m done going on about that ad. I just thought it was a funny ad…

P.S. I was playing Guitar Hero: World Tour yesterday and I beat Ted Nugent in a guitar battle!

Why do they always show Harry Potter during any holiday season? Christmas? Harry Potter. Halloween? Harry Potter. Fourth of July? Harry Potter. What? Harry Potter for the Fourth of July? But they’re Brittish! Stupid ABC Family… (But I do like me some Harry Potter.)

Potter Puppet Pals

Posted in Harry Potter, Stuff n Junk at 11:49 PM by Amy~la

I’ve done something that I haven’t done in months. I finished a Potter Puppet Pals! It was my first full song video made on my laptop! (It was easier on a desktop.) When it is finished processing onto YouTube I will post it here.

Update: Here it is!

Cedric vs Edward

Posted in Harry Potter at 4:57 PM by Amy~la

Some celebrities were talking about their love for Harry Potter. (Sorcerer’s Stone is 10 years old in the U.S. this year.) One celebrity that was talking about it was Robert Pattinson. He said the following:

Does it make me a traitor? ‘Harry Potter’ was what made me become an actor. I credit ‘Harry Potter’ with everything else that’s come since for me. I didn’t know what I was doing before that. I hadn’t read the books before doing the movie, so at first I read it just as an acting exercise. But I really enjoyed it! But I think Edward would kick Cedric’s ass, to be honest.

Whoo! Edward would win in the eyes of Robert Pattinson! So I will say that Robert is a trator because he didn’t read the Harry Potter books until he got the roll of Cedric. Now, did he read Twilight because he is Edward? (In my eyes, if you saw the movie and then read the books, or if you saw the movies and didn’t read the books, you’re a traitor.)

Harry Potter vs Batman

Posted in Harry Potter, Superheroes at 2:18 PM by Amy~la

So yesturday I asked a question on Scott Westerfeld’s blog. The question was “Who would win in a fight, Batman or Harry Potter?” So I was reading the comments, and people were actually explaining why Harry would win or why Batman would win. (Although I would like to correct TYC Leader. Batman doesn’t kill people. So Harry would have a chance.) Then someone said that the question wasn’t Batman or Harry, the real question is Voldemort or The Joker? So, here are my answers: Batman or Harry? Neither because they were dazzled by Edward Cullen! Voldemort or The Joker? Well, if it’s the Heath Ledger Joker then The Joker, but if it’s the Jack Nicholson Joker, then Voldemort.

P.S. Third post today. Wow! I guess I really don’t want to clean my room…
